NEXT UP AND REFLECTIONS FROM THE MANAGER...

Paul Burley1 Jan - 09:16

Eastwood CFC v Yellows

It is the first match of the New Year as we travel the short distance to Eastwood CFC in the UCL Premier Division North. After a disappointing Boxing Day result, Manager Tris Whitman has had time to reflect on losing out on the opportunity to move up the table.

"Saturday's game at Kimberley was especially frustrating as we felt it was a good opportunity to make it back to back wins and put us in a better position in the league table. However, we always knew the fixture could be difficult with it being on Boxing Day and the conditions and pitch wasn’t great for either team.

"Again I felt we showed good signs of being the better team but lacked what we had showed in our previous game against Melton Town.

"Over the course of the game I felt we probably created the better of the few opportunities created by either side, but again lacked ruthlessness in both boxes and Kimberly deservedly took their one good chance and with it took the points. The lads were deflated after the game and part of the frustration is that fact we feel that if we can be more consistent in our performances, we can start to pick up more positive results".

The loss to Kimberley came on the back of what was possibly the best performance of the season when Yellows beat Melton Town at the RM Stadium in a dominating performance. Whitman is keen to get back to that level of performance. "This week we have trained Monday and will train Thursday too in preparation for what will no doubt be a very tough test away at league leaders Eastwood, but I believe if we can show the levels that we did against Melton we can come away with a positive result".

Hot on the heels of Saturday's match at Eastwood, Yellows will be back at the RM Stadium Wednesday night in the Nottinghamshire Senior Cup against Sherwood Colliery where they will be keen to progress. This match and all matches create opportunities to bolster confidence in the squad, so we are hoping for a good turn out from our supporters on both Saturday and Wednesday.

The match on Saturday at Coronation park kicks off at 3pm and entry is just £5 for this match with all U16's FREE when accompanied by an Adult.
