We host Gresley Rovers on Saturday at the RM Stadium in the UCL Premier Division North.
The first home match for Tris Whitman, Aaron Large and Louis Minney and along with Darren Jubb they will be trying to build on a superb result away to Lincoln United last weekend.
Manager Tris Whitman gave his account of that match. "We started the game bright by moving the ball well with good structure and organisation behind the ball. Lincoln threatened with direct balls into their wingbacks and front two who were lively and took the lead through a good move down the right which resulted in a dangerous ball into the box which was smartly converted by their striker. We looked slightly nervous and shaken by the early goal but quickly settled in to the game and deservedly got back on level terms through persistence and pressurising their players, which allowed the ball to fall to Niall who stepped inside and hit a great curling effort into the far corner.
"The second half started in similar fashion but as the game went on the lads grew in confidence and continued to fight and work excellently out of possession which led to the second and winning goal. We won the ball back in our half and released Ethan down the left who drove at his man on the outside before hitting a low shot across goal off the far post to put us 2-1 ahead. Lincoln inevitably piled the pressure on but ran out of ideas and composure which saw them lose players to red cards and sin bins and we held strong to see out a memorable win. The lads and fans were obviously buzzing at the final whistle".
This weekend will require the same level of determination and focus if we are to try and put back to back wins together against Gresley who are one place above us and the Manager is clear on what is needed.
"This week our focus and preparation turns to the home game against Gresley. We will be looking to build on Saturdays excellent performance and result vs Lincoln and hopefully put back to back wins together. We will continue to work on our shape and organisation as a team and look to further implement our principles and identity, which the lads demonstrated really well at times on Saturday. The players have now set a standard that they need to replicate in the upcoming fixtures which will hopefully see an improvement in results and ease the pressure away from teams beneath us. Saturday will also be a good opportunity to catch up with an ex Hucknall colleague in James Jepson, who has recently taken over as Manager of Gresley. I’m sure he will do a great job there having done well at his previous clubs. Looking forward to this weeks training and the game Saturday, it will be good to see the boys buzzing again if we’re able to repeat what we did last weekend".
Kick off at the RM Stadium is 3pm and the Aerial Suite and club shop is open from 1.30pm.
