YELLOWS UNABLE TO OVERCOME BOSTON IN THE LAST MATCH OF THE SEASON...

Paul Burley7 Apr - 05:41

Yellows 0-1 Boston

Yellows were defeated 1-0 to Boston Town in the final match of the season at the RM stadium in front of a huge crowd of well over 700 in what was a real family and community atmosphere.

The opening period created very few chances for either team with the first real opportunity for the home side coming on 26 minutes when Orange sliced his shot wide from 10 yards. Boston had a good opportunity on 34 minutes but skipper Aaron Short was on hand producing a great challenge. The deadlock was broken just before the break with a fine shot from the edge of the box and the half ended 0-1 in what was a fairly even half split only by a clinical finish by Boston.

In the second half, Boston started briskly with a header just over the bar within minutes. An early change for Yellows brought Swan on for Lathall after the skipper was also replaced at half time by Jaine, the former struggling with an injury. Further changes were made in 60 and 69 minutes in an attempt to try and freshen things up as Yellows were struggling to make any real mark on the opposition's goal. Smith put in a fine cross in the final minute of normal time but Towle's header was easily dealt with by the keeper and the match ended with the 3 points going to Boston.

A huge crowd assembled in the Aerial Suite after the match where a question and answer session took part, discussing this seasons challenge in what was a very well attended and positive end to our seasons activities.

So with Pinchbeck winning at home to AFC Mansfield, Yellows survive by a margin of goal difference. But survive they do and that means step 5 football from next season. It has been a difficult return to this level of football with lessons learnt along the way. The club will be working hard in the summer to make sure we are as well prepared as we can be for a competitive campaign next season.

Thank you as always for your continued support and we hope many of the new faces we saw yesterday enjoyed the occasion, if not the result and that you will visit us again.
